The Chelsea Flower Show is an annual garden show held in Chelsea, London. It lasts for five days in May and is organised by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). It takes place in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea. Some people call it the Great Spring Show, as it is the most popular flower show in the UK, and probably in the whole world. The event attracts visitors from all over the world, as it features avant-garde show gardens designed by leading world-famous landscapers.
This year’s flower show is the hundredth one, and has started on Saturday, May 18th. It will continue five days, as every year from 2005. Before that it was only held for four days, and the first two were only for RHS members. The event is visited by 157 thousand visitors each year, and despite the rising interest the 11-acre ground can’t take more. All tickets should be purchased a few weeks/months prior to the event.
The BBC TV usually broadcasts directly from the Great Spring Show, and in the end of every year’s edition of the event, Twofour produces an official DVD on behalf of the Royal Horticultural Society.
Visitors of the Chelsea Flower Show can also meet some of the members of the British Royal Family, as a few of them always attend the show. They are part of the royal patronage of the Royal Horticultural Society.
